Gibson Printing opened as a one-man operation run out of a basement, owned & operated by Mr. Percy Gibson.

Gibson Printing became Gibson Printing Co. Ltd. and moved to a store front on Queen Street near Broadview Avenue in Toronto. Shortly after they became an early adopter of four colour process printing which was done on a letterpress.

In the early 1950’s Gibson Printing moved to a larger location on Danforth Avenue near Coxwell. It was also at this time the Gibson Printing began to offer offset printing as an option to its clients. Gibson Printing was then purchased by Mr. Richard D. Wigmore Senior who has worked for Mr. Gibson since after WW2.
Gibson printing began computerization of the plant by buying a computer for accounting. No one was producing accounting software in those early days, so they hired a programmer to create one for them.

Due to continued growth, Gibson Printing moved to a larger location on Markham Road north of Finch. This location would house their new five colour press with aqueous coating capabilities and expansion of the prepress department. Gibson Printing has remained a Wigmore family business & is now owned by Mrs. Linda Wigmore & operated by Kim Robertson her daughter.

To better serve their clients Gibson was moved into the Ravenshoe Group building (parent company). This was to a newer more centrally located facility on Bentley Street in Markham. This meant that Gibson Printing had easy access to Ravenshoe’s artists, photography & website production & gave Ravenshoe access to print expertise.

Gibson Printing moved to their new 40,000 sq ft. state of the art facility with much larger warehousing capabilities and room for expansion for digital presses. Together both companies provide their respective clients with a 1 stop solution to all their sales & marketing needs.

Installation of new digital press. To ensure we could keep up with and exceed client demands we installed a digital press that not only could print offset quality but had in-line finishing as well.

Installation of additional digital press. After the amazing success of our first press we had to install a second one to keep up with production demands.

Hundred Year Anniversary
What does it take to be in the printing business for 100 years? We believe that Gibson Printing’s continued success boils down to this simple fact, putting our clients’ needs first. Whether that’s expanding out services to help existing clients or sitting down with them to go over stock choices and new print techniques. We’ve been in business for 100 years because of our great clients and we will continue to put their needs as priority #1.
