Gibson Printing - Creating Quality Print Solutions

Interesting Facts

Our logo was designed to show our commitment to quality. We used the printer’s “registration mark” or “target” as the basis for our logo. The target is a symbol of quality -- if the registration is out, this is where it will be evident. The “target” was then modified to form the letter “G” for Gibson.

The target is a symbol of quality.

It was produced in four colours to show what we do, and tilted to suggest the points of a compass. The compass indicates that we have a sense of direction and purpose while guiding our clients through the often confusing world of the graphic arts.

Our Foundation

Gibson Printing is a third generation family owned and operated business. Gibson Printing Co. was established by Percy Gibson in 1916 as a one-man operation run out of a basement. By 1927 Gibson Printing Co., now called Gibson Printing Company Limited, was operating out of a store front located on Queen Street near Broadview Avenue in Toronto. In the early 1950’s Gibson Printing moved to a larger location on Danforth Avenue near Coxwell Avenue. It was at this time that ownership changed from the Gibson family to the Wigmore family, with whom it remains today. Due to continued growth, in 1994 Gibson Printing moved to a larger location on Markham Road north of Finch Avenue and in 2005 moved to 180 Bentley Street in Markham. We are now in our newest and largest facility yet at 4412 14th Avenue in Markham.

Gibson Printing was one of the first printing companies in the Toronto area to produce 4-colour process printing.

In those early days of printing, each colour was laid down separately.

Although printing technology has come a long way, we still conduct business in a personal manner by working alongside our clients, step by step. We take great interest in seeing our clients and their companies succeeding.
